The third time IS NOT the charm.

no worries the haters here will find a way to re-cycle Whitewater and Monica again soon. they have before a few times in the last year or so and will again without doubt.

 I remember that farewell speech Bill gave in the hanger at Andrews Air Force Base on that terrible inauguration day in 2001 - I had tears in my eyes. When you see Bill doing what he does best, like then, like tonight, it really makes you hate George Bush, Republicans in general, and every goddam idiot who ever voted for them, you know what I mean?

As always, he is beyond amazing.  Wow.  And this speech was so important, and probably very very very tough for him.  He had to hand over the torch, and that could not have been easy.

He did it, and he did it in the way only Bill Clinton could do it.

Bravo.  

Gravitas.  Great speech in so many ways.

More than the delivery (great) and the content (perfect) was the understanding of the purpose.

He knew exactly what the purpose of the speech was in the immediate-term, the mid-term and the long-term.  Bill Clinton is one of the scary-smartest people out there, and while that doesn't make him perfect all the time, it shows when he lines up for a moment like this.  He saw that from a mile away and hit it as easy as a John Olerud homerun.

I have a newfound respect for both Bill and Hillary Clinton.  Fantastic speeches.  I also really admire the ways both have stepped up for the party.

People the world over have always been more impressed by the power of our example than by the example of our power.

One seriously talented politician.  What an amazing speech he gave.

When Bill mouthed "I love you" to Hillary when she was giving her speech, I almost starting bawling. He is so passionate about her and so very proud of her. To have that kind of support from your partner is so wonderful. I see it in Obama and Michelle too and it's so heartwarming.

How could anyone want to be a Republican? I just don't get it!!

It still wasn't as good as Hillary's speech!  She sold the emotional part of the unity message, he sold the more cerebral and detail-oriented part.  Both were necessary, both were flawless.  It's not like I personally had any doubts, but you still just have to watch in awe.

Now - without reopening anything, please, because it's not my intent - do folks maybe understand a little better why some of us took it so personally when these two good Democrats got attacked a little more harshly than they should?  You could not have asked for a better performance, for the benefit of party and country, under such scrutiny and such emotional circumstances than what you saw the last two nights.

If everything works out in the next eight years and beyond like we all dream it will, you gotta remember this moment for the role it played - like that guy swimming the last leg of Michael Phelps' relay, you know?  Sometimes even the brightest stars need a little boost from the team to make the difference.

You almost have to feel bad for John McCain.  I mean, not only is Obama the biggest celebrity in the world [tm] in his own right, but he has this amazing all-star lineup to advocate on his behalf, including of course his own wife.  And then McCain has... uh, Fred Thompson?  You gotta feel good at this point.

for the next three months and just have him go from small town to small town doing retail politics and giving versions of this speech.

He wouldn't want to do it but honestly I think he would swing the state by himself.
